This article should have been put in one of our earlier bulletins, but better late than never.  ​Glen Rydl attended the Hays County Youth Livestock Show Auction (HCYLSA) on January 30th, 2016 at Dripping Springs.  Prior to the start of the auction, Glen had the honor of presenting the "Dr. Glen M & Marilou Rydl" Scholarship to Madison Hawkins, Queen of the 2016 Hays County Youth Livestock Show.  The San Marcos Kiwanis Club has $600.00 in the budget for the HCYLSA.  During the auction, Glen added on $100.00 to Dana Wallace, Senior Foods Grand Champion from Hays FFA: $200.00 to Courtney Ward, (Bill Nicolas' grand daughter, Senior Foods Reserve Champion from Dripping Springs 4H; $100.00 to Brady Green, Turkey Hen from Dripping Springs 4-H; and $200.00 to Madison Hawkins, Market Lamb from Buda 4-H.  Note: The Grand Champion Steer sold for a mere $10,000.00.​​ ​Glen also indicated that the history of the Glen & Marilou Rydl Scholarship was started was when Glen was president of the Hays County Livestock Exposition in 1977-78, when he started the Queen's Contest and has been associated with it since that time.  Hence the Scholarship was set up in honor of Glen & Marilou.
