Nate, Penny's son, came to the meeting for a second week in a row. Moe made it to the meeting, as well. So nice to see both of them.
Well, Lon complains about his name not getting called for Big Bucks. This time it was and he was not at the meeting!
REPORTS:
Birthdays for this month are McBride Wilson, Emily Sousa and Sandi Ellen. Kristin and husband James are celebrating an anniversary.
The 5K Pumpkin Dash has been turned over to La Cima's HOA. Rick has had some good dialogue with Lisa, their Association Manager, concerning details for the race. We will be able to put out street signage before the race to publicize it and restrooms will be available prior to the race this time.
We have a possible new member Jessica Rodriguez. We will meet her at a future meeting.
Rick reiterated that we need proposed budgets from committees by Sept. 11th so that a full budget can be set for the new fiscal year. The Board will need to vote approval for them at the next board meeting on Sept. 17th.
We need an SLP Committee Chairperson. Please consider volunteering.
The Installation banquet has 23 confirmed attendees. Penny and Kelli are working on the event. Kelli will need a closely accurate accounting of how many are coming so she can order the right amount of food. Rick sent everyone an email with the QR code and Square link on Sept. 5th so if you want to pay either of those ways, please check your emails. Willie or Rick can help you if you have questions. You may also bring cash or a check to the Sept. 11th meeting.
There were several new program speakers found during the Chamber Business Expo event. Charles volunteered to contact them to set up dates to speak at the club.
The annual audit will be done by Glen Rydl and Gary Nelson.
PROGRAM: Luanne introduced Tucker Blythe, a volunteer with the TruChoice Resource Center which is located by the Christus Santa Rosa Hospital. He bagan with the Mission of TruChoice which is, "We administer to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of women and men facing the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy." To this end, he serves as a male client advocate counseling within a "Mancave" office to help the fathers of the unplanned pregnancies understand their role, responsibilities and options. The services provided by this Center include pregnancy tests and confidential counseling on options, ultrasounds, STI testing, referrals to Adoption agencies, and what they call a Material Assistance Program where the parents can earn "Baby Bucks" to buy new and gently used baby items such as clothing and cribs. They do not offer or recommend abortions but will offer information about the procedure and risks as well as offer post abortion healing for those who do get an abortion and have post abortion stress. They also provide Bible study for new believers.
Tucker invited everyone to a "Coffee, Cake, and Comedy" fundraising event on Oct. 2nd from 5:30-8:00 pm at the Calvary Baptist Church to raise funds for TruChoice as all services with TruChoice are free to those who come for help.
