PROGRAM:
The Haunted History of San Marcos, TX

Linda Coker presented an excellent program on the Haunted History of San Marcos, TX.

Haunted spirits, paranormal activity, and creepy occurrences were the topic of many stories associated with eerie tales of hauntings in San Marcos, TX.  According to Linda Coker, there are many tales to be told, and evident proof that ghosts are among us.

During the early days of human settlement, one such tale centers around the Hays County Courthouse.  A security guard was said to witness the appearance of a little boy, dressed in a sailor suit, and wandering the halls.  This little boy ascended up the staircase and disappeared into a wall of the courthouse.  The identity of this little boy was unknown, and why he was in the courthouse.

Another appearance occurred at the old county jail, and several witnesses were able to validate her appearance.  This entity was known as a woman that went by the name of Anna Hauptrial.  Not much is known about her life before being convicted and put in jail.  The facts that are known give an account that she murdered her 1st husband and 4 stepchildren, by poison, and attempted to kill her second husband as well.  According to court records, she felt that her children did nothing all day, except drink coffee.  Anna died, while in jail, by hanging herself, killing both herself and her unborn child, on
Halloween night in the year 1924.

Linda Coker experiences such as sensations of being grabbed and inappropriately pinched during paranormal tours that she has been a part of.

Moving away from the courthouse and jail, there have been people who have been at the San Pedro Cemetery and have heard babies crying, causing people to nickname the cemetery as the Crying Cemetery.

No paranormal story is complete without including witch stories.  Before completing her presentation, Linda shared information about 2 particular witches, known as the Gery Witches.  They were a mother and daughter, and they were known to practice their craft in the Wonder World Cave.

Linda gave a fantastic program that covered many instances of paranormal activity, but there are more tales to be told.  Remember that the San Marcos area has been the longest inhabited place in all of North America.  Expect the abnormal.  Expect the unbelievable.  Watch your back!
