San Marcos Kiwanis Club Newsletter, Mar. 20, 2025
This will be a brief newsletter due to there being no program  There was a vote needing to be made at this meeting so those of you who were not able to come to this meeting will find the results in the "Reports" section. Several items that were addressed in the March 19th Board meeting are also included here.

We met back at Grins for the first time under new ownership. The menu is a little different; prices have changed; and an 18% tip is added due to being a large group. Fried catfish has been added as a choice and the french fries are really good now.
Rick brought cookies and cupcakes to celebrate the March birthdays for Kristi and Jennifer. Thank you, Rick!

REPORTS:
Jesse said the cornhole tournament is still moving along. The Chamber Cornhole Tournament is on March 21st (now over) as of the writing of this newsletter. Luanne and Rick volunteered to promote our upcoming tournament at this event in the hopes of getting teams to sign up for ours.

Penny and Cheryl are volunteering for the Kissing Tree Vendor Fair. Penny has designed a "Button" as swag. Anyone interested in coming to one of our Grins' meetings to see what our club is about can use the button for a free lunch. These will be handed out at the vendor fair.

We voted at this meeting to offer a "Family" membership dues break for any two members from one family joining. It passed. This had previously passed at a Board meeting. It is now official policy.

Rick mentioned two agenda items from the Board meeting.
The Board voted to accept Valerie Delgado as a new member. She will be inducted in April.

The Board also voted to donate $365 to Abigail Edge who is the current Key Club Lt. Governor for Division 24N. She will be the new Lt. Governor for Division 38 which includes San Marcos High School during the 2025-2026 term. She requested financial support for the upcoming LEDCON (Leadership and Education District Conference) with the Texas-OK Key Club.

Rick passed around a sign up sheet for the next March 26th Social to be held at Hays Caldwell Women's Shelter starting at 5:30. There is a requested $10 donation plus volunteers are needed for bringing appetizers and desserts. Rick is providing the main course this time.

Another sign up sheet was passed around asking members to help with getting speakers for May 8th through Sept. 30th.  If you know of a good program, please let Rick and Kristin know.

We still need a volunteer to do the San Marcos Kiwanis website and calendar.
